Hyperthermia
"Hyperthermia" brings up 1.3 million references on Google. Medical literature also indicates this to be an active research area. Heating speeds up some enzymatic reactions more than others. If heating
favors morbid processes it will be unfavorable. If it favors resistance mechanisms it will be favorable. Judging by the body's natural fever reaction the latter would seem to be more often the case. Locallized
heating has the potential to be reduce unwanted effects, but is technically tricky.
